In compliance with current regulations in most European countries, the hiring of individuals with disabilities brings about a series of fiscal savings and advantages for companies and organisations. Alongside these, there are a number of intangible benefits.


In Austria, the Social Ministry Service of Tyrol introduced the "We are Inclusive" award fifteen years ago, elevating it to a quality seal in 2015. Bernhard Achatz, head of the labour and social law department at the Tyrol Chamber of Commerce, noted that "companies often inform us that their group dynamics improve significantly when individuals with disabilities are part of their staff." Inclusion is "an added value for the entire company." According to Tiroler Wirtschaft,  "what unites these companies is not only the exemplary interest in providing employment to people with disabilities but also the recognition of their positive energies and charisma."

Adam Casals belongs to the group of individuals with disabilities and, from the third capital of the United Nations System in Vienna, advocates for the establishment of a Network for Inclusivity and Disability. This network is aimed among others to provide guidance to Agencies and Organizations within the System, in the implementation of measures for inclusive talent and accessibility (1).

Hiring individuals with disabilities, whether in an employment capacity or through professional service provision, offers a range of tangible and intangible benefits. Firstly, there are fiscal advantages for hiring organizations, as outlined by the country-specific typology of employment. Furthermore, this demographic represents an increasingly valuable asset for certain companies and organisations, providing not only the opportunity to incorporate alternative perspectives into their operations but also endless potential for addressing future challenges. As noted by Ethic Lab for the Randstad Foundation (2), "people with disabilities can bring a truly distinctive value." Among other attributes, this value is derived from their capacity for perseverance and positive resilience. María Viver, Director of the Randstad Foundation, adds, "Companies are reconsidering the skills necessary to navigate the future. Presently, teamwork and multidimensional problem-solving are essential; there’s a "perfect alignment between individuals with disabilities and companies aspiring towards the future”. Since 2004, the institution has been devoted to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities through employment, annually recognizing those companies, institutions, and individuals that serve as societal exemplars by comprehending the vital significance and value embodied by individuals with disabilities.
